Body of 25-year-old man recovered from Sacramento River after jump from Knights Landing Bridge
The sheriff's dive team and other agencies were searching for the man.
KNIGHTS LANDING, Calif. — The body of a missing man was recovered from the Sacramento River on Thursday, two days after he had jumped in, the Sutter County Sheriff's Office said.
Two men, around 7 p.m. Tuesday, jumped off the Knights Landing Bridge connecting Yolo and Sutter counties. One of the men did not resurface from the water, the sheriff's office said.
This was not an attempted suicide. The sheriff's office said "bridge jumping was not uncommon behavior for these men."
The sheriff's office said the body of 25-year-old Cameron Birdsong, of Live Oak, was recovered around 6 p.m. Thursday.
The Knights Landing boat launch was closed to the public as multiple agencies worked to locate Birdsong.
The boat launch will reopen with normal business hours, the sheriff's office said.
