Death of CA prison inmate from Sac County being investigated as a homicide
Gomeztagle was found unresponsive in his cell at North Kern State Prison around 5 p.m. and pronounced dead.
Investigators are investigating if Enrique Gomeztagle, a 31-year-old serving a two-year and eight-month prison term for second-degree burglary, was killed by his cellmate, Kevin Langston, on Wednesday.
Gomeztagle was found unresponsive in his cell at North Kern State Prison around 5 p.m. and pronounced dead despite life-saving measures.
Langston, serving a four-year prison sentence for first-degree burglary, was removed and placed in restricted housing pending investigation.
CDCR stated Gomeztagle’s death is being investigated as a homicide, but the official cause of death remains unknown.
