SACRAMENTO, Calif. — With two years remaining in his final term as California governor, Gavin Newsom announced on Monday that he has appointed Nathan Barankin of Sacramento as his new chief of staff.
Barankin, who previously held various executive positions for Kamala Harris before she became vice president, will commence the role immediately and will receive an annual salary of $235,344.
The governor’s office clarified that the chief of staff position does not necessitate the confirmation from the California Senate.
