Hate crime arrest in Roseville after Blaze pizza assault, throwing of pride flag
An 18-year-old Lincoln man described as the primary suspect in a hate crime at a Roseville pizza shop last month has been arrested, police said.
Igor Dragun was arrested at his home in connection with the hate incident and assault on workers at Blaze Pizza in Roseville on Sept. 19. He was booked into the Placer County Jail on felony assault and hate crime charges, police said.
Officers had been looking for three suspects since police responded to the report of an assault around 10:15 p.m. at the pizza restaurant on Fairway Drive.
Roseville police said one suspect, now identified as Dragun, had entered the business to pick up a delivery order when he spotted a pride flag on display.
He reacted by grabbing the flag and throwing it to the ground.Officials said when confronted, the suspect used a homophobic slur and left the business.
However, the police department said the suspect later returned with two other men and began fighting with two employees.
The suspects ran away from the business before officers arrived, officials said.
One victim was taken to an area hospital with facial injuries, the police department said.
Police said they are partnering with the Placer County district attorney and are finalizing their investigation into the other two suspects.
