Man fatally hit by big rig in Stanislaus County
Emergency medical services took the man with major injuries to a nearby hospital, where he died.
KEYES, Calif. — A man was fatally hit by a big rig Monday morning in the Keyes area of Stanislaus County, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP was dispatched around 9:31 a.m. to northbound Highway 99 just north of East Keyes Road, according to CHP online logs.
A man exited the driver's seat of an Acura coupe parked on the right shoulder, entered the slow lane, and was hit by an oncoming 2022 Freightliner, CHP said.
Emergency medical services took the man with major injuries to a nearby hospital, where he died.
It is unknown if the man intentionally put himself into the path of the Freightliner or if it was an accident.
