Mother of alleged 9-year-old missing Milpitas boy arrested
Anyone with information on his whereabouts was urged to call 911.
MILPITAS, Calif. — The mother of a 9-year-old Milpitas boy she reported missing to authorities earlier in the week, was arrested for filing a false police report and child endangerment.
According to the Milpitas Police Department, Rohnita Prasad, 46, had falsely reported her son, Harshail Kumar, missing on July 3.
Following the report, the MPD, the Santa Clara County Search and Rescue team and community members engaged in an over 24-hour search.
Detectives later determined Prasad had "intentionally concealed" her son.
The Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children Services has since intervened is is "working to determine appropriate placement" for the child.
Prasad was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for child endangerment, "intimidating or dissuading a witness or victim, and filing a false police report."
