Person missing, falls into South Yuba River in Nevada County

Nevada County agencies have been warning the public about the dangers of getting in the South Yuba River during Memorial Day Weekend.

NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. — Emergency crews are searching for a woman who fell into the South Yuba River on Saturday night, according to Nevada County Fire District.

Nevada County Fire said it responded to reports of a female who had fallen near the Highway 49 bridge around 8:33 p.m. A search and rescue operation began which included water crews and aerial surveillance with help from the CHP..

The person was not found on Saturday day night and the Nevada County Sheriff's Department has since taken over the search effort.
