Republic Services strike: Trash collection to resume in some Bay Area cities on Saturday
Some cities have also created temporary drop-off locations.
FREMONT, Calif. — Some Bay Area cities expect trash collection to resume this weekend amid a sanitation workers strike that has sparked delays in service and garbage piling up in neighborhoods.
Republic Services on Friday said customers can expect texts, automated phone messages and emails to keep them updated on when service would resume in their area.
In Alameda County, the Tri-City area of Fremont, Newark and Union City are expecting crews to resume trash collection as early as this weekend.
Some cities have also created temporary drop-off locations for residents, like in Fairfield.
The union said negotiations with Republic Services are scheduled to resume on Monday.
