Sac City Council approves Railyards development
The project will be completed in about two years with the stadium set to open at the start of the 2027 season.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento City Council voted on Tuesday to fund a soccer stadium and development in the downtown Railyards area.
The effort to bring a soccer stadium to the Railyards is years in the making. Supporters of the plan say Tuesday's vote brings it a big step closer toward becoming a reality.
The city council voted and passed two key agenda items:
Passed a "definitive documents" resolution tat ensured all the relevant/required documents needed to develop the area are all lined up.
It also Adopted a resolution, approving the expansion of the city of Sacramento Railyards Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District (EIFD).
According to Sac Republic FC documents filed with the city, the current stadium plans show it would seat 12,000 people with expansion to accommodate 20,000 fans, a goal for the future.
