In the end, five teens were arrested.
Witnesses reported seeing hundreds of teenagers in both The Streets of Brentwood shopping center and at Sand Creek Crossing across the street.
Some people we spoke with said they had seen a flier on social media encouraging people to show up there.
Police say around 3:30 p.m. on Friday a large group of people under 18 got together in a pre-planned gathering which they say grew to about 300-plus people.
Workers at nearby businesses told us teens either broke into their stores or tried to. After that, many businesses locked their doors and closed early.
Police say they arrested four teens for misdemeanors and a fifth for battery of an officer. They say someone used pepper spray on the teens, though they couldn’t confirm whether it was the police or private security.
Police were monitoring both shopping centers on Saturday. They’re asking anyone with information or video of what happened to contact them.
