TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Truckee Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in Sugar Bowl village at 2:30 a.m. on March 27.
The fire occurred in a snowbound area, requiring the use of snowcats, snowmobiles, and UTVs.
Assistance was provided by CAL FIRE NEU, Olympic Valley Fire Department, and Northstar Fire Department, with North Tahoe Fire Protection District covering one of the district’s stations.
Despite the challenges, crews successfully extinguished the fire.
The district noted that such incidents are rare but emphasized the importance of regular training for unique responses to ensure public safety.
